The Celtic Forum is a gathering of nations who share Celtic heritage, to discuss issues and formalise ways they can all cooperate to achieve set outcomes.
The Chief Minister was asked by written question over the summer recess, why the Island didn't have a presence at this years forum.
Chief Minister Cannan said despite not being invited we're fully committed to the British-Irish Council, and continue to engage on a range of relevant policy discussions pertinent to other devolved administrations.
Up for discussion at the event was marine energies, maritime transport, fishing, culture and education.
