Drivers in the UK can now expect to be hit with fines of upto £100 under the new Government scheme.
Police on the Isle of Man have told 3FM that although there are no plans to introduce on the spot fines for motorists, it's something they won't rule out.
Drivers in the UK can now expect to be hit with fines of upto £100 under the new Government scheme.
It’s endeavouring to cut road deaths by upto 57 per cent within 20 years; the spot fines also reduce court time.
The closest thing currently on the Island are the fixed penalty tickets going out for endorsable offences such as speeding.
The Isle of Man Constabulary have said however that they are currently unable to adopt an identical scheme as it would require a lot of back office effort and need significant reorganisation and potentially investment.
They've said they will now watch the developments in the UK with great interest.
