The Office of Fair Trading has asked Isle of Man Energy for a statement after the company shut its reception to the public.
The company says customers won't be able to pay bills in person at its headquarters at Murdoch House in Douglas from today.
You can pay by card over the phone or online, while cash payments can be made at Post Offices.
OFT chairman John Wannenburgh MHK says the move was discussed in a meeting last week when the announcement was made.
