Isle of Man could double up as training base for Olympic nations next year

The Island has been recognised in the 2012 training brochure that was sent to all of the competing countries.

Not only will the Isle of Man be welcoming the Olympic Torch next June, it could also be used as a training base for the competing nations.

The Island has been recognised in the 2012 training brochure that was sent to all of the competing countries.

Anyone wanting to come here prior to the games will only be able to train in cycling, handball and shooting.

As yet there have been no expressions of interest from anyone but Chairman of Isle of Man Sport, Geoff Karran says it’s still early days.

If it transpires a country does choose to send its athletes there would be benefits to the economy aswell as strengthening the Island’s international links.
