The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association hopes a 'resolution can be found' as the 2026 event is in doubt.
It comes as the Victorian Government in Australia, who was set to host the Games, has withdrawn from their agreement.
The IOM Association says the news 'is a particular blow to the athletes hoping to be part of Team Isle of Man.'
It adds that in the short term they look forward to supporting the seven young athletes representing the Island at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games taking place in Trinidad and Tobago next month.
