A UK company is hoping to build a medicinal cannabis facility on Island.
'Peel NRE' - a regeneration and clean energy specialist has outlined plans for a science innovation and research centre, sustainable energy park and medicinal cannabis facility based on Cooil Road in Braddan.
In 2019, Manx government undertook a public consultation to understand people’s views -99 per cent of respondents backed legalising cannabis for medical purposes.
Peel NRE now wants to gauge public opinion before submitting an official planning application later this year.
The company says the facility would bring approximately £90-180m to the Isle of Man economy, create a number of new technical jobs and an opportunity for the Island to become a leader in the emerging medicinal cannabis sector.
