Island Sign Upto International Crime Bill
The Isle of Man has signed up to a land mark International Crime Bill known as the Palermo Convention.
It aims to protect the Island against those looking to commit international and organised crime, particulary in respect of people smuggling and trafficking in persons.
Although Manx Law already covered many aspects of the convention it's thought the treatie will fill some important gaps, it also allows the Island to meet the standards of bodies such as the International Monetary Fund.
Legistlation Manager for Home Affairs Tom Bateman told 3FM a bit more about the important signing.
