Fishermen are set to benefit from efforts to boost the sustainability of Manx lobsters and crabs.
A southern bay in Port St Mary has been under-going a trial over the last four years which has seen it closed to most fishermen - it's to see if less fishing in the area allows the stocks of crab and lobsters to grow and thrive.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is now asking Tynwald to approve a further three year extension of the current trial at its sitting this month.
Dr Fiona Gell is the senior biodiversity officer - she says lobster and crab bring in £863,000 each year so letting the populations thrive is good for the economy:
