Island has international aid responsibility, says Chief Minister

As a wealthy nation - the Isle of Man has a responsibility to deliver on aid to the world's poorest people.

That's the message from Chief Minister Allan Bell.

The World Bank recently rated the Island as the seventh richest internationally in terms of Gross Domestic Product per head of population.

Approximately £2 million has been budgeted for overseas aid projects via the International Development Committee.

Chief Minister Allan Bell watched the Manx fund evolve as Treasury Minister between 2001 and 2010 - he says there's no reason that stands up against us providing it:
