Island fire service will not join UK strike action

Officers at the Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed they will not be taking part in industrial action planned by fire-fighters across the UK today.

Members of the UK Fire Brigades Union will go on strike for four hours over pension disputes.

The service are keen to stress however this will have no impact on Island.

The local fire crew had previously identified the need for action over pensions, and as a result became members of the Government Unified Scheme last April.
