Island could become climate change 'test bed'

The Isle of Man could lead the next revolution in the effort to tackle climate change.

That's the view of Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne who says we could be a 'test bed'.

He says the Island can no longer take a back seat and use its small size as an excuse as it will cause damaging long term effects.

His comments follow the visit of Professor Thomas Stocker - one of the world's leading experts in climate change.

The Isle of Man's policy on climate change is to try and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 80 per cent below 1990 levels by 2050.
