Roadside cameras will now be used to catch road tax dodgers.
Police have confirmed as of this week the cameras - known as Automatic Numer Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology will be placed on Island.
It's in the aims to identify and prosecute motorists who fail to either register their vehicles, or pay road tax.
Those caught without tax could face a fine of up to £2,000.
The department of Infrastructure also says the new technology will allow licensing services to be modernised - eventually leading to tax discs not being used at all.
