A war veteran who completed tours of Iraq and Syria claims he turned to cannabis after suffering back and shoulder injuries during service.
Robert Gaines, of Ballacrosha in Ballaugh, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse.
The 35-year-old admitted possessing cannabis after police searched his home and van on September 3 last year, finding 42.8g of the class B drug with a street value of £856.
Defence advocate Paul Rodgers told the court Gaines served in the armed forces for ten years.
Self-employed plumber Gaines was fined £650 and ordered to pay £50 costs.
