It comes as several cities in the UK conduct rental schemes in the hope of finding a more environmentally-friendly way to travel.
More than 30 areas - including Newcastle, Bristol and Bournemouth - are already operating trials.
However Isle of Man police say the scooters, which can reach speeds of up to 30 mph, are still illegal to use on public pavements and roads on the island.
Parents buying them for children are being reminded there are legal requirements such as registration and insurance to consider.
The exact number of crashes involving e-scooters in the UK is currently being monitored by police.
