Results from the latest Institute of Directors Policy Voice survey show two-thirds are pessimistic about the economy and 70% felt the government has a lack of understanding.
The survey also identified issues for businesses, with 60% saying skills gaps, rising costs and weak transport links were the biggest concerns.
91% of members said the public sector is too large, with calls for public sector cuts and major political reform ahead of the 2026 election.
