Inquest concludes death by misadventure for MGP racer

Manx Grand Prix competitor Trevor Ferguson died as a result of misadventure during the Super Twin race earlier this year.

Coroner of Inquests John Needham confirmed this at Douglas Courthouse earlier today.

Mr Ferguson died after colliding with a hedge near to The Nook in Onchan on August 29.

The Co. Tyrone man was the uncle of motorcycling legend Ryan Farquhar who subsequently retired from competitive racing.

Mr Needham confirmed there was no mechanical issue with the Kawasaki Mr Ferguson was riding and no alcohol or other substances were found in his blood.

Family and friends of the competitor attended this morning’s inquest, as did organisers of the MGP.

Mr Needham concluded there was no obvious explanation for the 47-year-old’s crash and that the incident was ultimately a fatal misadventure.
