The Manx Wild Bird Aid (MWBA) says if you see a bird in trouble, get help fast.
It's a tough time of year for baby doves and pigeons- that is the message from the MWBA in a post on social media.
The charity says as days get darker a lack of vitamin D means the birds often develop metabolic bone disease.
This makes bones are soft and weak, meaning the babies are unable to fly or even walk without pain.
They then jump out of the nest but end up grounded, sometimes with broken legs, and are defenceless against cats and dogs.
Even if their parents are still around, they need help or they won’t survive.
The charity is urging those who see a bird stuck on the ground not to take a "wait and see" approach and to help.
If you are concerned for a bird’s welfare or would like to donate to the charity, you can contact the MWBA via Facebook.
