Emergency Control Room Will be Manned Overnight
The Department of Infrastructure have said their emergency teams are ready for action with extra numbers pulled in to cope with what’s anticipated to be an extremely stormy night.
The emergency control room at Ellerslie will be manned over the next 24 hours with seven 2-man teams working until midnight when they will then be replaced by a second shift of workers.
The workers could be in for a very busy night with flooding expected and high winds bringing down trees likelihood.
The teams tonight will have a wide range of resources available to them including drain cleaning equipment (jetters), cranes, hoists, chainsaws, pumps, sweepers and a range of heavy plant such as excavators.
The Ellerslie Emergency Control Room can be contacted on 672000.
