Infrastructure minister Tim Baker has defended the latest announcement over major roadworks on the Island.
His department will shut the Mountain Road for five weeks to carry out repairs, improve drainage and repaint road markings.
He says summer closures mean the work will be finished faster, and his department will listen to concerns before finalising its plans.
But he says he's not prepared to risk the return of the TT by not doing the work now.
