The annual rate measured by the Retail Prices Index held at 3.3 per cent for April.
Excluding housing costs the inflation rate increased to 2.9 per cent from 2.7 per cent.
The annual rate, shown by the Consumer Prices Index, remained at 1.9 per cent last month.
