Next Monday work will commence on a highway improvement scheme at the Signpost Corner roundabout.
The scheme will involve the installation of a road water drainage system, resurfacing of the roundabout and minor modifications to the layout of the busy junction.
As the area is one of the busiest intersections on the Douglas Outer Link the work was seen as crucial.
The works will be split into two stages to minimise inconvenience for the public, from Monday 8th to Friday 17th December traffic signals will be used during working hours. From Monday 10th January until Saturday 22nd January 2011 the junction will be closed to traffic from 9am until 4.30pm.
Motorists are advised to use the alternative main road route via Governor's Road and Glencrutchery Road to St Ninian's Traffic Lights then along Johnny Watterson's lane to avoid disruption.
