An Island advocate has written to the chief minister to ask if the Isle of Man will be included in the UK's ID card scheme.
Ian Kermode described compulsory digital ID cards as "deeply sinister and serious overreach", saying they'd intrude into people's privacy.
Last month, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced they'd be introduced in the UK with a photo, name, date of birth and nationality.
In his letter, Mr Kermode asked Alf Cannan to publicly rule out having the scheme on the Isle of Man.
