The Island's Information commissioner's Office says the latest figures show fewer data breaches have been recorded - but they affect more people and are more serious.
Data from the ICO shows 52 data breaches were reported in the second quarter of this year.
They affected more than 2,200 people and 42 per cent of those involved personal data, or information that could be used for identity theft or financial crime.
The incidents were split evenly between the public and private sectors.
