Chief Minister Howard Quayle says hundreds of returning students may mean a large number of Island families will have to self-isolate at Christmas.
Today, he revealed new rules mean anyone returning to the Island will have to quarantine their entire household from a week today - Thursday, November 19.
Mr Quayle says if people choose to stay in hotels or tourism accommodation, the government will pay up to £250 a week to help out.
But he added a large number of students returning from the UK for Christmas was always going to create problems.
