Hundreds affected by memory stick data loss

It\'s understood that 107 service users and staff in the Isle of Man are affected.

A memory stick containing the personal information of hundreds of people has been lost.

In August a staff member from Praxis Care IoM was unable to find a memory stick they'd been given to transfer information from one computer to another.

The information includes personal data relating to some individual service users as well as some staff from both Praxis Care and the Department of Social Care.

Since the initial notification in August the Department and Praxis Care have worked together to try and identify the information and then undertake suitable actions to address the data loss.

It's understood that 107 service users and staff in the Isle of Man are affected.

The information ranges from basic details (such as name and address) in most cases through to more sensitive care records in a minority of cases.

Both the Department and Praxis have already contacted anyone who they feel could have been affected. As a result, they're reassuring anyone who received contact from them that they're not affected.
