A visiting motorcyclist from Hull died from chest injuries after a crash at Ballaleece Bridge in St Johns.
The inquest into the death of 67-year-old Frank Robinson was opened at Douglas Courthouse on Thursday.
His Triumph motorbike was involved in a crash with a Suzuki, which was travelling in the opposite direction, on June 3rd.
The court was told he suffered multiple blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Coroner of Inquests John Needham released Mr Robinson's body so that funeral arrangements can take place - the inquest has been adjourned to a date to be fixed.
