The island's inflation rate almost doubled last month, according to new figures from the government.
The Consumer Prices Index rate leapt from 2.1 per cent to 3.9 per cent - its highest rate for more than five years.
The Treasury says transport, recreation and restaurants and hotels accounted for most of the rise in the past twelve months - oil and fuels rose by more than 27 per cent.
Internet costs and household consumables saw the biggest fall in the past year.
