Huge fines in place for disregarding tree protection laws

A reminder has gone out to the public regarding the hefty fines in place for anybody who disregards existing laws surrounding tree felling.

Both Minister's for Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture and Infrastructure have issued the warning specifically to all developers, builders, property owners and landscape gardeners.

The warning states you can not cut down, uproot or recklessly destroy any tree with a trunk diameter greater than 3 inches, you also can not remove a registered tree, regardless of size.

If you are not in possession of a licence granted by DEFA you will face a fine of upto £20,000 per tree and a possible summary conviction.
