House of Keys Deadlocked Over Fourth and Final MLC in Election
Following a relatively straight forward election for the first three members of the Legislative Council the House of Keys have found themselves in deadlock as to who the fourth and final member will be.
First up was Phil Braidwood who will be making the move from House of Keys to Legislative Council for the first time, over the past four years he has been Alan Bell’s Deputy in the Treasury.
Alex Downie was elected second with 15 votes, over his 19 years of being an active member of Tynwald he has been both the Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry and Trade and Industry Minister.
Former Detective Chief Inspector Dudley Butt was elected in third, it’s the fourth position currently causing the issues.
Alan Crowe and George Waft are battling it out for the final spot, with multiple votes so far failing to provide one with the majority share.
Celebrity Chef Kevin Woodford bowed out towards the end as his votes dropped. It’s thought the final spot will be determined today.
