Hospital sees large amount of cancelled operations over last year

The revelation was made in the last sitting of Tynwald before the summer break, in response to a question from Onchan MHK Zac Hall.

Of the 1381 cancellations 562 were within one week of the date, and 563 came within a month. 

Reasons for the cancellations included the patient being not medically fit for the procedure, insufficient time in theatre and a lack of bed space.

28 patients failed to attend and 2 opted not to have the procedure.
