A new academic centre focusing on education and research has been launched by Hospice Isle of Man.
The Scholl Academic Centre was opened yesterday with its primary objectives including research and education on palliative and end of life care, as well as being able to develop new integrated models of care in these fields.
Chief executive officer of the hospice, Anne Mills, says already having established connections with institutions such as universities in Hong Kong, the USA and Australia shows the significance of the new centre internationally.
The centre is being mostly funded through specific grants by the Dr Scholl Foundation, whose representative at the launch, Susan Scholl, believes the project 'will continue to grow as a beacon of best practice'.
