Horse owners are being urged to check for symptoms of Laminitis in their animals following a surge in reported cases.
The Island branch of the British Horse Society says the number of instances of the disease reported by vets has spiked recently and is issuing advice on how to check for signs of it.
Laminitis is an inflammation of the soft tissue structure in horses feet which can be fatal in severe cases.
The society has now released information on how to check for the condition, including if your horse is reluctant to lift its feet, shifting from foot to foot and changes in behaviour and temperament.
