A local mother has been left devastated after an operation to improve the life of her son has been called off.
32 year old Chris Walmsley was left critically ill and suffered severe brain injuries following a road accident in November 2006.
He spent two years in Lancashire in an intensive Rehab Unit before returning to the Island where he now resides in Abbotswood nursing home.
He was recently accepted for Stem Cell therapy in Germany, but the clinic is no longer doing the treatment after a change in the country's law.
After spending months raising over £20,000, his mum Carol faces the news that almost triple that amount is needed to take Chris to China, one of the only other places in world that carries out the treatment.
His mum Carol says; 'At the moment he has got a quantity of life but I want to see him have a quality of life as well.'
Carol can be contacted on 498403 or email carol.walmsley@yahoo.co.uk
