Holidaymakers warned of rabies threat

The Department of Health is warning Isle of Man holidaymakers against rabies.

This follows several cases of patients from the Island being bitten by dogs whilst on holiday overseas - putting them at risk of contracting the deadly disease. 
 
Endemic in some parts of the world, people are being warned that they should take the proper precautions by seeking advice from a GP six-weeks before travelling. 
 
‘High risk’ countries include all of Asia, Africa, parts of South America and parts of former Soviet Union.
