Hickman hits 130mph on day 2 of the TT races

It was Peter Hickman who set the TT races alight last night, with the first 130mph lap of the event.

He set a speed of 130.72mph - putting him seven seconds ahead of Dean Harrison, with Davey Todd coming in third.

Todd’s strong start continued as he set the fastest lap in the Superstock class, lapping at 129.58mph which put him clear of teammate Conor Cummins and Manxman Nathan Harrison.

Meanwhile, the newcomers continued to get to grips with the Mountain Course with Glenn Irwin again leading the way.

Overnight rain and a wet start to the day cleared and conditions were dry all around the course, although conditions meant the session was slightly delayed.

Sam West - who was third fastest on the Superbike in Sunday's practice -  was involved in an incident near Laurel Bank, which brought out a red flag and end to the session just before 8pm - he was reported conscious with hand and leg injuries and airlifted to Noble's Hospital.

As solo riders were required to return to the Grandstand, the sidecar session was cancelled.

Meanwhile, looking at today - Roads around the TT course close from 4.45pm, ahead of the Superbike, Superstock and Supersport Qualifying at 6.20pm.

This will be followed by the Supersport and Supertwin Qualifying at 7.25pm, before the sidecar qualifying at 8pm.

Roads are set to re-open at 9.30pm.
