Enterprise Minister, Laurence Skelly MHK, says the ongoing cost of maintaining Manx National Heritage sites remains a challenge.
His comments were part of a written reponse to a question from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse in Tynwald yesterday.
Mr Skelly added more cost effective options will be considered if appropriate.
It was as the minister responded to a query from Mr Moorhouse's regarding outside lighting at Castle Rushen.
