Heavy rain leads to localised flooding around the Island's roads

Motorists are advised to take it easy on the roads this morning, with the heavy down pours over night leading to some very tricky conditions.

As it stands there is significant flooding between Greeba and Crosby, Glen Vine, Balthane, the Quarter Bridge area, Glenduff and The Forge.

Due to the thick fog coupled with the standing water the Mountain Road is also posing motorists problems this morning.

Met Office forecasters said the Island can expect up to an inch of rain today, possibly two inches over higher ground.

The Manxman crossing to and from Heysham today has already been cancelled, with doubt cast over the Liverpool service with the Manannan, an announcement is expected on that in due course.

You're advised to leave plenty of time for your journeys, and where possible take alternate routes to those previously mentioned.
