Minister for Health David Anderson has vowed to improve the future of breast cancer care on the Island.
He was in attendance at a public meeting last night held by the Breast Cancer Action Group who had raised numerous concerns about the recent decision to appoint a Consultant Surgeon with a special interest in breast care, instead of a specialist breast Cancer Consultant.
On top of that appointment the Department of Health are also looking to introduce a sentinel node biopsy service and plan to introduce a breast reconstruction service.
The Minister said at the meeting his department are no way planning to downgrade the current level of care, instead they will endeavour to enhance and expand it.
