Health Minister to address breast cancer care concerns at public meeting

Minister for Health, David Anderson will be in attendance at a public meeting arranged by the Breast Cancer Action Group this coming Monday.

There has been some confusion and controversy surrounding the Department’s decision to appoint a Consultant Surgeon with a special interest in breast care, instead of a specialist breast Cancer Consultant.

Minister Anderson has said he will use the meeting to once again reiterate the Department’s position, and the rationale behind the appointment.

He said he also wants to reassure the concerned individuals that the new surgeon will provide the same exceptional level of care as the incumbent locum, Ishrak Hamo.

As a result of the new appointment it’s alleged the breast care service will be enhanced, adding capacity to Outpatient Clinics and providing an additional Theatre session.

The meeting will be held at the Legion Club in Douglas this coming Monday, at 7.30.pm
