With just over a fortnight until the reciprocal health agreement was due to come to an end there has been a shock u - turn at the last minute.
Chief Minister Tony Brown told 3FM just last week that there was no chance that the decision would be reversed.
He said the UK were adamant that the agreement coming to an end was not negotiable. It was only MHK's and members of the public that seemed to have belief that it wasn't too late.
However, yesterday Chief Minister Tony Brown received a phone call from MP Andy Burnham Secretary of State for Health saying that the agreement should extended.
So people can breath a sigh of relief as getting travel insurance out to visit the UK wont be a concern for at least the next 6 months.
The Islands Health Minister Eddie Teare told Granada Reports that he had no idea there would be a last minute turnaround.
