The Department of Health says recent reports in UK media concerning drinking during pregnancy are grossly misleading.
Psychologist Janni Niclasen was reported to have found that women who drank a bottle of wine a month whilst pregnant had better behaved children.
However a consultant in public health medicine has slammed the idea saying alcohol can lead to women suffering a miscarriage or put the safety of the baby in jeopardy.
