Plans to stop people smoking in cars with young children in have been welcomed by public health bosses on the Island.
The Department of Health says it fully supports the UK’s proposals to introduce a ban and make it a criminal offence.
It will now go forward to the Council of Ministers in the hope it will be supported and new legislation can be drawn up.
Second-hand smoke in children is linked to conditions including asthma, ear infections and even cot death.
