A public consultation into assisted dying on the Isle of Man has officially launched.
Earlier this year, MHK's voted overwhelmingly (22-2) to allow a private member’s bill to be introduced to legalise the choice for terminally ill people.
The consultation will run for eight weeks, seeking the Manx public’s views on the issue.
A draft bill will then be prepared for review by a Tynwald committee - with experts asked to give evidence to inform discussions.
An opinion poll last year found 87% of islanders support a change in the law on assisted dying to allow this option for terminally ill, mentally competent adults.
The assisted dying bill was proposed by Dr Alex Allinson, and would enable terminally ill adults the choice of an assisted death.
