Almost a year and a half on and it seems that the smoking ban on the island has been a success.
Smoking was banned in all enclosed public places.
It was feared that pubs on the island would lose custom, but that hasn’t necessarily been the case
The Islands brewery boss Martin Brunnschweiler told 3fm that pubs that sell food or have installed an outdoor smoking area have reaped the benefits and only some of the smaller pubs have suffered. (audio clip above)
