A teenager from Douglas who was caught on CCTV burgling a house has been remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.
18-year-old Anthony Collis appeared at Douglas Courthouse today where he admitted stealing from a house on Barrule Road in Willaston.
He handed himself into police yesterday after they posted CCTV footage of the incident on social media in an effort to identify him.
In the early hours of October 19th Collis climbed through a downstairs window which had been left open for the cat – the female occupant of the house, and her son, were asleep upstairs.
Collis stole around £30 in cash and a box of 100 cigarettes – the missing items were discovered later that morning when the schoolboy realised his dinner money was missing.
His advocate told the court he’d carried out the burglary so he could “feed himself” saying he was in a “bit of a mess” financially.
Collis has now been committed for sentencing before the Court of General Gaol Delivery - he will next appear there on Friday.
