That's according to Health Minister Lawrie Hooper, who says he understands the announcement by Manx Care - which stated plans for a replacement home had been scraped - has caused concern.
He adds the long term plan is to build a replacement, but the estimated cost has grown considerably and the original timescale has been pushed back.
Mr Hooper hopes to reassure residents that Cummal Mooar 'should remain open while the Department of Health and Social Care, Manx Care and Treasury work together to determine a plan for the future.'
