The Department of Infrastructure has applied for permission to re-roof the governor's home.
It's submitted a planning application to carry out the work at Government House on Governor's Road in Onchan.
It says the work would also see it replace doors and windows at the property, which it owns.
The scheme also needs registered building consent.
