Government to review 100 arms-length bodies

The government says it's planning to review all of its arms-length bodies before deciding whether to keep them, merge them or close them down.

A council of ministers report into the organisations, including bodies like the Steam Packet Company, Manx Care and the Isle of Man Meat Company, will be laid before Tynwald in October.

It says there are currently 100 such organisations and more work is needed to make sure they're governed properly.

But it adds more work is needed to make sure the way they're run isn't disconnected or unaccountable.
