Douglas Council has applied to borrow more than £670,000 for a housing project.
The Spring Valley Enabler scheme will see sites cleared to build dozens of homes in the capital.
Now, the local authority has asked for permission from the Department of Infrastructure to borrow £671,232.
The petition is due to be considered by the DOI this week.
