Sponsoring a South African event in London cost the Manx taxpayer £20,000 this year.
A Freedom of Information request to the Department for Enterprise asked how much Finance Isle of Man paid to sponsor the South Africa Chamber of Commerce Gala Dinner.
The event was held earlier this week at the Mansion House in London.
In its response, the DfE said its platinum sponsorship, flights and hotels and gift bags containing honey, gin and booklets about the Isle of Man cost a total of just over £20,000.
